“Cabazon Pass Wind Park is Shell WindEnergy’s first commercial-scale wind project in California - USA. The 41 megawatt (MW) wind power facility is located in the San Gorgonio Pass area 18 miles west of Palm Spring, California - USA. The San Gorgonio Pass is one of the most established wind energy areas in the US, home to hundreds of turbines that have been installed since the 1980’s.

The Cabazon Pass project comprises of 62 turbines of 660kW manufactured by Vestas, and commenced operation in September 2002, after a construction time of 6 months. Each year, the project is estimated to produce enough power to meet the energy needs of around 11,000 American households and will displace over 85,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. “
